As local subdivisions of government, special districts must adhere to the public election laws of the state of Colorado. The CEGR Law team of professionals—lawyers, paralegals, and staff—administer numerous public elections annually. CEGR Law’s paralegals are recognized across Colorado as experts in public elections, and routinely provide training to county clerks, municipal clerks, and other legal professionals on the proper administration of such elections. Our paralegals often serve as the “Designated Election Official” for our client Districts and are also sought to conduct special elections in certain circumstances.
CEGR Law’s staff is well versed in all aspects of elections, from the statutorily required publication of calls for nominations, training polling place volunteers, overseeing election day, organizing the canvasing board, and certifying election results. CEGR Law’s lawyers are actively involved in drafting TABOR and other ballot questions and issues that meet Colorado law as it evolves through statutory change and court precedent.
